About this site
About This Site: electricpressurecanner.com
electricpressurecanner.com is an independent guide to plug-in pressure canners and the machines they get mixed up with. It tells you what makers, manuals and food-safety experts say, with dates, in plain English.
Who writes this?
The editorial team at electricpressurecanner.com. We are not a maker, a store or a lab. We are not a food-safety authority. The overview of all machines is the best place to start.
Why does this site exist?
Search results for plug-in canners are mostly shop pages, forum threads and lists that repeat the maker's words. Some repeat mistakes that matter. One is calling a water bath machine a pressure canner. Another is treating a maker's own badge as if the government had issued it.
Here you will find:
- one clear pick for each need, and an honest note when plug-in is not worth it,
- each machine sorted into the kind it belongs to,
- expert statements with their dates, including where they disagree.
How do we work?
- Sources: We read manuals, spec sheets and advice from the USDA, the National Center for Home Food Preservation, the CDC and university extension offices. Each page lists its sources at the end.
- No lab tests: Nothing has been measured for this site. That is why we call it a comparison and a pick. See how we compare.
- No processing times or recipes: Those come from tested sources and your manual. We link to them.
- No invented stories: Practical notes sum up what makers and manuals say.
- Up to date: Every page shows when it was last checked against its sources.
What are we not?
We do not replace a tested recipe, your manual or your state's university extension office (free local food-safety advice). For a question about a specific jar or recipe, ask them. Find your extension office.
How is the site paid for?
The site is free and has no banner ads. It is paid for through affiliate links to Amazon. If you buy through one, we earn a commission and you do not pay more. No maker pays for a recommendation. The details are in the affiliate disclosure.
How do I reach you?
